ACOM demands the immediate cancellation of La Vuelta 2025 by the National Court following a coordinated campaign of antisemitism and sabotage

ACOM has today filed an extension of its criminal complaint due to the serious incidents suffered by the Israel–Premier Tech team during several stages of La Vuelta 2025: organized coercion, road blockages, and reckless behavior that endangered cyclists, organizers, and the public. This is not an isolated incident—it is a coordinated campaign of hatred, antisemitism, and discrimination based on nationality, the modus operandi of the BDS movement, which has already been discredited by Spanish courts.

ACOM is requesting that the National Court order the immediate cancellation of La Vuelta 2025 as an urgent precautionary measure, given the real and imminent risk to the lives and safety of athletes and spectators. Alternatively, we call for extraordinary security reinforcements, a ban on public gatherings along the race route, and the identification and preventive detention of the groups already involved in the blockades.

The extension targets both the direct perpetrators and the instigators: the Solidarity Network Against the Occupation of Palestine (RESCOP), the BDS movement, and the Platform for the Sports Boycott of Israel—promoters of the “No Sports with Genocide” campaign, which organized actions throughout the race aimed at expelling the Israeli team. These groups carried out pot-banging protests, road invasions, and chained blockades, resulting in arrests, crashes, and targeted harassment.

We highlight the responsibility of the organizers of La Vuelta, who have effectively legitimized the pressure against Israel–Premier Tech through statements and decisions that empowered the saboteurs. The technical director, Kiko García, even publicly suggested that the team should consider withdrawing “to avoid compromising the safety of the event,” and similar pressure came from Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO); despite this, the team chose to continue and was forced to remove the word “Israel” from its uniforms and vehicles to reduce risks—an extremely serious development and clear evidence of the hostile environment.

We also point to the responsibility of the Government and relevant authorities, whose duty it was to ensure safety and order. The statements by Foreign Affairs Minister José Manuel Albares, supporting the team’s expulsion, serve to stigmatize and reinforce the boycott campaign; combined with operational complacency and the low number of arrests despite the volume of unlawful acts, this has enabled impunity for the agitators.

ACOM reminds that boycotts and exclusions against Israel have no legal basis and violate the principles of equality, neutrality, and objectivity that must guide public institutions. We will not allow antisemitism to be normalized in sports or within our institutions. We will continue to act on legal, political, and social fronts to uphold the law and public safety, and to bring all those responsible for this campaign of harassment and violence to justice.
