ACOM denounces to the Prosecutor’s Office the antisemitic map targeting the Jewish community

ACOM has filed a complaint with the Hate Crimes and Discrimination Section of the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Barcelona regarding the existence and dissemination of a digital map that identifies, points out and geolocates establishments, entities, centers and businesses linked — actually or presumably — to the Jewish community, Israel or the so-called “Zionism”, under the collective accusation of having a “connection with the genocide”.

ACOM considers that these facts clearly exceed the scope of legitimate political criticism and constitute an act of antisemitic targeting that is intimidating and potentially dangerous, by turning people, businesses, schools, community entities and spaces frequented by Jews into easily locatable targets.

The creators of this map, BarcelonaZ, will no longer be able to evade their responsibility by deleting content, changing servers or erasing digital traces. For this reason, ACOM requests the Prosecutor’s Office to immediately open criminal investigation proceedings for a possible hate crime under Article 510 of the Criminal Code, to identify the authors, administrators, collaborators and disseminators of the tool, to urgently preserve the digital evidence, to take statements from those affected and to adopt precautionary measures to prevent the continuation or replication of these contents.

In addition, this project has been widely and shamelessly disseminated by accounts that openly sympathize with Hamas’s jihadist terrorism, which demonstrates a real physical danger for the Jewish individuals who have been targeted. A clear example is the Instagram post here, where this map is shared and celebrated as if it were an act of “resistance”.

ACOM recalls that freedom of expression and political criticism do not protect the creation of lists, maps or databases designed to stigmatize, intimidate or expose a historically persecuted community. Pointing out Jewish businesses, schools or entities under a collective accusation of complicity in alleged international crimes is not activism: it is a form of antisemitic hostility that must receive an immediate institutional response.

ACOM will continue to act before the competent authorities to defend democratic coexistence, equality and the security of the Jewish community in Spain against any form of hatred, discrimination or targeting.
