Action and Communication on the Middle East (ACOM) has today filed a formal complaint with the Central Operational Unit 2 of the Civil Guard\u2019s Information Service, of which the Economic and Fiscal Crime Unit (UDEF) has also been informed, alerting to the close links of the so-called \u201cGlobal Sumud Flotilla\u201d with terrorist organizations such as Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the sanctions imposed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury against several organizers of the flotilla \u2014 including two residents in Spain \u2014, ACOM calls on Spanish authorities to immediately investigate whether crimes of terrorist financing are being committed from Spanish territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Global Sumud Flotilla is not a humanitarian initiative: it is an operation financed and directed by Hamas and its allied networks. Spain cannot become a logistical base for a pro-terrorist flotilla,\u201d denounces ACOM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among those sanctioned by Washington are: <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Saif Hashim Kamel Abukishek, resident in Barcelona, identified as one of the main organizers of the flotilla and directly linked to the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad (PCPA), the financial arm of Hamas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Jaldia Abubakra Aueda, resident in Madrid, coordinator in Spain of Samidoun, an international support network for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a terrorist organization designated as such by the EU, the United States, Israel and other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the complaint, the vessels of the flotilla (more than 100 ships) have been acquired mainly through companies linked to Abukishek, such as the Spanish firm Cyber Neptune, S.L. and the British company Menorca Yachting Limited, the latter registered as a dormant company and therefore legally unable to carry out commercial operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
ACOM highlights serious irregularities in the flow of funds: <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 International donations that end up in shell companies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Acquisition of vessels just days before departure through inactive companies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Complete lack of transparency regarding the final destination of the money. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Use of intermediaries and opaque structures in multiple jurisdictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe demand that the origin and traceability of the funds arriving in Spain to finance this operation linked to Islamist terrorism be investigated.
